At this point, it seems there are more cellphones than people in Pennsylvania, so perhaps you are one of those people looking to dispose of an old phone you’ve been carrying around.
With all the confusion around how to properly recycle an old phone, it is no wonder why the majority of people don’t.
The truth is, without understanding where and when cellphone recycling occurs, most people do not pay any attention to it. There might be a couple of old cellphones sitting in your closet for this very reason.
Why not put that old phone to use again? Secondwave Recycling aims to make things easier when it comes to cellphone recycling and created a way for you to feel even better about it.
Secondwave Recycling has created a way to not only receive free cellphone recycling but also donates some of the proceeds to important charities. If you want to feel good and protect the environment, recycle your old cellphone with us!
Because of Pennsylvania’s commitment to saving electronics from the landfill, Secondwave Recycling was created to make the process easy and to make a small difference in the world.
The recycling process in Pennsylvania:
Each cellphone will be completely wiped of its data, if not already done so. From there we inspect each phone to see if it can be refurbished or if it needs to be recycled. Phones are packed with some precious metals which can be sold as a commodity, or they can be refurbished and resold if in good working condition.
The cellphone or its components are then sold and some of the proceeds can be donated to charity.
Items accepted include working, broken, and non-functional devices:
· iPhones & Smartphones
· iPads & tablets
· Handheld game consoles
· Basic cell phones
Items not accepted and can be recycled locally:
· Instructional manuals
· Car chargers
· Protective cases
Think about it…
There are millions upon millions of cellphones currently in use. In addition, there are all the old phones that are being replaced annually by consumers. Essentially, that is more phones than humans in the world.
On average, a single person purchases a new phone once a year.
Cellphones can contain various chemicals that have the potential to seep back into our environment when disposed of improperly. Recycling them can prevent this.
If you are considering recycling your old phone, you can also feel good about your partnership with Secondwave. Each time we refurbish or recycle a phone, we donate some of the proceeds to charity.
Pretty cool right?
We make recycling not only simple and easy, but something you can be proud of!
SecondWave Recycling was started by a family that has a passion for taking care of the environment and making a difference in the community.
To do this, we created a simple program partnering with non-profits to help in their fundraising efforts through cell phone recycling.
