Electronic are everywhere in Florida, including millions of cell phones, working or not. As a result the Florida Department of Environmental Protection is strongly recommending that all unwanted electronic be recycled.
The truth is, without understanding where and when recycling needs to occur, most people do not pay any attention to this which is a mistake.
Cell phones contain a bevy of metals and materials that can be potentially hazardous to our health, but most consumers are confused about different laws that can affect them in this regard. Most people understand that recycling electronics is a good thing but do not know where to start.
Because of Florida’s push for proper recycling of electronics, including cell phones, Secondwave Recycling was born, to accommodate this growing market and to do it in a responsible way that gives back.
We set out to create a company that helps the planet and gives back to the communities in which it is involved with.
We wanted to make turning in your old cell phone as easy as possible while maintaining our values. For Florida residents the process is simple.
The recycling process is easy and looks much like this:
Once we receive the device or phone, we then wipe all its data and the old phone is then recycled with an electronics recycler or refurbished to sell. The proceeds from this are then distributed to local and national charities that we closely partner with.
We accept the following devices:
*Please note; We do not accept desktop computers, landlines, monitors or other electronics not listed above.
Think about it…
Every year, on average, people purchase a new phone. That is not only millions of new phones, but that is also a million old phones. Where do all these phones go?
That is where you come in. By recycling your old cell phone with Secondwave, you are keeping potentially hazardous materials out of the landfill. Cell phones are made with a variety of metals and materials that can be toxic such as lead.
By responsibly repurposing or recycling your old mobile phone, you are doing your part to help the environment for future generations to come. It may sound like hard work, but we make it as easy as possible with a few clicks of the mouse.
Another feel good, and great reason to recycle your old phone is that we take some of the proceeds and donate them to various important charities. We set out to create our cell phone recycling business to not only do what is great for the planet but also great for those living on it.
SecondWave Recycling was started by a family that has a passion for taking care of the environment and making a difference in the community.
To do this, we created a simple program partnering with non-profits to help in their fundraising efforts through cell phone recycling.
