Donating gently used smartphones makes an impact anytime, but it’s especially important for Father’s Day. Here’s why we think so…
This year you can show Dad some love while protecting the environment and supporting charities that your family cares about. We have some ideas that any family can pull off.
Get Dad a new cell phone and donate his old one through us. It sure beats sticking him with another bottle of aftershave or a novelty tie. His gently used iPhone or Samsung Galaxy could be worth as much as $150 for his favorite charity. Plus, we’ll donate all the money to the cause of your choice.
Organize a church fundraiser. After all, Father’s Day is always a Sunday. In fact, it’s always the third Sunday in June so you could make this an annual event. Maybe he’d like a pancake breakfast or a softball game while you’re collecting the donated phones.
Throw a block party fundraiser. A June date means that it will be warm enough to entertain outside in much of the country. That makes big gatherings and clean up easier.
Select a cause that screams Father’s Day. Well, you don’t really have to scream. Just make a bold statement. There are plenty of great options including men’s health causes like the Prostate Cancer Foundation. There are also groups devoted to typical male interests like sports or building stuff. Think Project Fit America or Habitat for Humanity.
Contact your Dad’s favorite cause. Many charities run special campaigns for Father’s Day so check out what’s going on at organizations your Dad already supports. If he’s an Oxfam donor, you’ve got it easy. They offer symbolic Father’s Day gifts like planting a forest for $500 or a very cute goat for $50. Dad doesn’t get to keep the goat, but he gets a free card telling him about the donation.
